Obituary of Steve Mariotti

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steve at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, March 15, 2024. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Vismara. Loving father and friend of Stephanie (Paul). Son of the late Cesira and the late Lino Mariotti. Dear brother of Sergio Mariotti (late Sandra), Maria Boiani (late Luciano), Alessandro Mariotti (late Rosemarie), Isidio Mariotti (Josephine) and Luciana Calibani (late Paul). Son-in-law of the late Esterina “Ester” and Antonio “Tony” Tomassetti. Brother-in-law of the late Giulio Tomassetti (Jackie). He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, special friends and his furry companion, Bella.

Born in Monte Maggiore Al Metauro, Italy, Steve came to Sault Ste. Marie in 1958 in search of work. He was a skilled tradesman and known for his perfection in drywall taping, working in the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma area for over 60 years. He spent his free time hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. In his later years, he was always there to lend a helping hand to preserve wildlife. He loved feeding and watching the birds. Steve was a quiet, kind and gentle soul, always willing to help others. The purity of his heart can be quickly measured by his love for animals. He spent most of his time with his furry companion and best friend, Bella, who brought him so much joy.

A private family service was held. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or the SAH Critical Care Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the SAH ICU staff for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Steve and his family.
